“ (…) the exquisite tour of baroque styles and manners that Il Convito, a trio of young Frenchwomen, brought to the French Embassy’s La Maison Française on Thursday. (…) The trio specializes in music of the baroque period but does not make a fetish of it. Their instruments are strung with gut. They employ baroque bowing techniques and use vibrato very sparingly. But they take only judicious rhythmic liberties, don’t overdo sentiment or abstraction and, with a natural ease, share in wonderfully collaborative ensemble.”
